Summit Viper X4 Tree Stands
Tree Stands Manufacturer: Summit
Summit Model: Viper X4
Review Category: Tree Stands
Purchase: Tree Stands I bought two of these stands, one for my daughter and one for myself. They were purchased at Bass Pro Shop for $249. I waited for the Fall Hunting Classic hoping that they would be on sale, but I'm not that lucky.
Things I like about the Summit Viper X4 Tree Stands: The Viper X4 is the easiest climber I've ever used. It is lightweight enough that my thirteen year old daughter can carry it, set it up and climb with it by herself. It folds fairly flat which makes it easy to backpack to your stand site. The seat is very comfortable and includes padded arm and back rests. Both the seat and foot platform attch to the tree rock solid. There is no creaking and moving like with other stands I've tried. The new Rapid Climb Stirrups make it easy to get your boots hooked in to climb without having to bend over and mess with straps.
What I don't like about the Summit Viper X4: The only thing I've had trouble with is the trigger cable lock. Sometimes the cable can get caught, and it can be tough to get it to slide out freely - especially in the dark.
Tree Stands Viper X4 quality: The entire stand is made from aluminum, and weighs just 20 pounds. The padding in the seat, arm rests, and back rest is soft, comfortable and dries out quickly if you get caught in the rain.
Viper X4 summary: The Viper X4 is easy to set up and use, and adds a great deal of mobility to your hunting. They are a bit more expensive than a lot of other climbers, but in my opinion, the extra comfort and conveinence is worth the money.
