Purchase: Tree Stands I picked up this Tree Stand durring the Day-After-Thanksgiving sale at Harry's Army & Navy Store in Robbinsville, NJ for $89.99. Based on my research, that is a pretty good price. I wanted this stand becuase I have two small children and hope to have them enjoy the thrill of hunting with me some day soon.
Things I like about the Hunter's View 12' Buddy Stand Tree Stands: While I bought it to allow me to hunt with my kids, I realized the first time up in it that it was quite comfortable for just one person too. I was afraid it would be too heavy, but I was able to cary it into my my hunting spot (about 500 yds from nearest dirt road, with no trouble at all. I did make two trips; one for the platform and one for the ladder sections. I also like that it has two contact points and two ratchet straps to secure it to the tree. With the ladder support bar also in place, this stand is very secure and stable.
What I don't like about the Hunter's View 12' Buddy Stand: I wanted to be higher up than 12 feet, but Harry's was out-of-stock on the Hunter's View 4 foot ladder extension when I made my purchase. I expect to pick that up before next season. The biggest complaint is only do to the fact that I'm 6'3'' tall. For a guy my size, the seat platform is not high enough above the foot platform to allow me to sit comfortably for hours. I think the seat platform is 15 inches above the foot platform and I found myself strecthing and adjusting more than I would have liked.
Tree Stands 12' Buddy Stand quality: The quality/construction is very good. The tree stand remained stable and secure the entire time I had it up. I also appreciated the ease with with it was assembled and erected in the woods.
12' Buddy Stand summary: I would recommend this stand to everyone. If you have kids/friends/or a spouse you want to hunt with, it is certainly able to accomodate. Also if you're XL and enjoy a little elbow room, this this a terrific option for you too.
