Purchase: Fishing Misc Equip I acquired this rod as a secondary Fly rod from Ebay here in Australia. It cost me just over $100AUD which is about $75 USD. Not a bad price for what is considered a "just above" entry level rod.
Things I like about the Shakespeare Snake River Classic 5wt 2pc Fly rod Fishing Misc Equip: This rod has very simple fixtures as compared with your much more expensive rods, however as a casual fisherman I dont see this as too much of a draw back. The rod is well presented and has a nice balanced feel. The most important part, I believe, in a fly rod is how it casts. I found this rod to be a nice medium action and casts extremely well. In fact I have been using this rod for a fair amount of salt water and freshwater Bass fishing and i love it. The rod came with a nice cloth bag which is a cheap but nice touch.
What I don't like about the Shakespeare Snake River Classic 5wt 2pc Fly rod: I dont really have any complaints about this rod. The reel seats and thread locks are all good, and i can find now play in the reel once its in position.
Fishing Misc Equip Snake River Classic 5wt 2pc Fly rod quality: Todate I have found no problems with the construction. The blank used seems to be fine and consistant throughout. Only time will tell here folks.
Snake River Classic 5wt 2pc Fly rod summary: I am not flush with cash so I am always on the lookout for a bargain style rod. I believe I have found it with this rod. It was cheap (here in AUS anyway) and casts every bit as good as my other rod which was nearly 3 times the price. Value for money, I am on a winner and would recommend this rod to any beginner or intermediate fly fisherman.
