Rocket Aerohead Hammerhead 100gn Broadheads
Broadheads Manufacturer: Rocket Aerohead
Rocket Aerohead Model: Hammerhead 100gn
Review Category: Broadheads
Purchase: Broadheads I first heard of the "mechanical blades" a few years back from my brother in PA. I started shopping around and was attracted to the 2" cutting diameter of the Hammerheads. The local sporting goods store had an example of one penetrating the skull of a deer on display which was icing on the cake.
Things I like about the Rocket Aerohead Hammerhead 100gn Broadheads: I had dropped ever animal I have hit with these broadheads. I really like the 2" cutting diameter. Also impressive (as I am sure is with all/most mechanicals), is that you do not have to practice with your broadheads. They fly/hit the target exactly as your practice tips. My friend and I have verified this on more than one occassion.
What I don't like about the Rocket Aerohead Hammerhead 100gn: If I had to pick one thing I do not like, it would be the tiny screws you have to remove when changing the blades. But that is only because my eyes are getting older. I know they have to be small and lightweight.
Broadheads Hammerhead 100gn quality: The bulk of the broadhead is aluminum and lightweight, but strong. It has replaceable steel tips and of course the 3 blades/screws and rubberbands are replaceable. The blades may bend after you strike a target, but not before they do their job. I have actually reused the ruberband because it just slid up the shaft.
Hammerhead 100gn summary: The Rocket Aerohead Hammerhead is an awesome blade and I would recommend it to anyone. They come in 100 or 125 grains and have washers for fine tuning. I have not had one problem with these broadheads except most stores do not carry the replacement blades/tips.
