BSA Catseye 1.5x-4.5x x32mm Illuminated Reticle Rifle Scopes

Rifle Scopes Manufacturer: BSA Catseye
BSA Catseye Model: 1.5x-4.5x x32mm Illuminated Reticle
Review Category: Rifle Scopes

Purchase: Rifle Scopes I got this scope at Midway USA which is a great place to buy optics. I paid $80.00 for it last year. I wanted it to try out on a .22 rifle and a slug shotgun and I wanted to play with the illuminated reticle feature just cause I thought it would be neat to play with. I figured that this would be a good way to play with the IR feature without plunking down the SERIOUS cash that one of the better scope brands wants for a scope with this feature.

Things I like about the BSA Catseye 1.5x-4.5x x32mm Illuminated Reticle Rifle Scopes: I really like the illuminated reticle. It is great just at dark when it is hard to see the crosshairs against a dark background. The scope holds its zero well even under 12 gauge recoil, and the sight adjustments are very positive and easy with the finger adjustable hunting turrets. It is fairly bright and clear even in low light situations. I've killed several deer with this scope on a 12ga rifled slug barreled shotgun, most shots were right at dusk and the scope performed its intended function well.

What I don't like about the BSA Catseye 1.5x-4.5x x32mm Illuminated Reticle : This scope is not a Burris or Leupold, but then again, it isn't priced like one either. The optics are not that great, you can see your reflection in the occular lens if the light is coming from behind you and it has some parralax. The lense caps that come with it are cheap and noisy hard plastic. If you turn the IR feature up too high for the ambient lighting conditions the LED in the scope makes a red dot in the upper field of view in the scope. The click adjustments probably are not repeatable, though I haven't tried this out yet.

Rifle Scopes 1.5x-4.5x x32mm Illuminated Reticle quality: The construction of the scope as far as I can tell is very rugged.I've banged it around a good bit and it has not changed zero or anything negative like that. The quality is actually much better than I expected for the price that I paid for this rifle scope. Of course, when it comes to cheap scopes I may have just gotten lucky with this one and the quality might be variable so I can't really say how good they are as a group, but the one I have has worked very well.

1.5x-4.5x x32mm Illuminated Reticle summary: I'm going to give this riflescope a rating of 3 out of 5. It has some issues with optical quality, but nothing so serious that it hinders the scopes ability to do its job. Other than that it seems to be a very accurate rugged scope that has been through some tough hunts and trips without a hitch. Personally I really like it for the money that it cost. It is fun to play with when you mess around with the illuminated reticle and it is a scope that is priced for the entry level hunter that actually delivers what it advertises; a cheap, accurate, sturdy scope.
