Phantom Whitetail Calling System Calls Lures Scents
Calls Lures Scents Manufacturer: Phantom
Phantom Model: Whitetail Calling System
Review Category: Calls Lures Scents
Purchase: Calls Lures Scents I wanted a call that wouldn't freeze up so I purchased the Phantom Whitetail Calling System from Cabela's for $199.99 and $12.95 for shipping and handling.
Things I like about the Phantom Whitetail Calling System Calls Lures Scents: I like the unit because it is compact and very user friendly. Just throw in a 9 volt battery and plug in the speaker and you are ready to go. It doesn't freeze up and it only weighs 29 ounces including the battery. Another great thing is that Phantom also gives you 60 feet of speaker wire so you can strategically place it anywhere you need it to be. Plus I can choose from many sounds like ground scrape, buck battle, social sparring, forage paw, deer step and antler tree rub,snort/wheeze, dominant grunt, social grunt, tending grunt, estrus bleat and fawn distress and the keys glow in the dark for first light and last light.
What I don't like about the Phantom Whitetail Calling System : What I dislike about the Whitetail Calling System is the auto battery shut off because the volume goes to zero every time it shuts itself off. So if you forget what level of sound you put it on, then there may be a chance you put it too loud and you may spook the deer. While on the subject of noise levels, I believe the Whitetail Calling System volume goes way too high, the directions said it goes up to 125 decibels, I don't know about you but I live in Maine, I don't want to be calling New Hamshire deer into Maine. So be careful with the volume level. One other thing I found I disliked was the speaker wire gets brittle in sub-zero weather or if I encounter freezing rain, I find it is hard to coil back up. On those types of days I keep my unit close to me.
Calls Lures Scents Whitetail Calling System quality: It is made out of an ABS plastic that seems very durable, the speaker is waterproof, and the unit is water resistant(Can't be submerged)I have had my unit for two years and it is just like brand new. I feel that it can withhold some abuse.
Whitetail Calling System summary: Bottom line I feel that this is a very good unit, I would make a couple changes if I could like making it remote controlled instead of using the speaker wire and when shutting off, I would like it to stay at the same volume level I started with. Other than that if the price could come down a bit that would be nice. I did see it recently in Cabela's for $169.99 so price is coming down. Overall it is a great call
