Purchase: Rifle Scopes Wow it seems like ages ago although it was only 18 months ago I needed a new scope to go along with my new Tikka T3 30-06 rifle. I read rifle scope reviews until I was blue in the face and finally decided I would try the new VX-III from Leupold. I can't remember how much it was exactly.
Things I like about the Leupold VX III Rifle Scopes: To make a long story short at first I wasn't to impressed by its grouping and the Tikka had such a great reputation for accuracy so I assumed it was the scope. I couldn't believe all of the hunting scope reviews I had read let me down. It seemed at times I could never get the gun to be dead on no matter how much money I poured through the barrel. Speaking of barrel it turns out the Tikka was defective and recalled. Tikka went above and beyond and provided a new gun and this time I had the same scope professionally mounted. I now love this scope mounted with the new Tikka. Both feel like they belong together and I feel bad for trashing leupold scopes to my friends. My groups are amazing and I've never shot so well in all my life.
What I don't like about the Leupold VX III: After my initial problems the only thing I don't like is minor. I wish the scope had a little wider field of view. My hunting grounds are so tight and the shots are usually at close range so I usually need to pull up the scope and zig zag through the trees to find my potential target. A little wider field of view might help me locate the intended victime when I've come close to pointing the scope in the right direction.
Rifle Scopes VX III quality: Great lenses and positive clicks make this rifle scope a real tool.
VX III summary: After my experience here I would suggest everyone have their rifle scopes mounted by a professional and remember just because the gun in general has a great reputation doesn't mean your particular gun is all that great. If you have a new one which isn't placing them how it should after many shots then you might want to look at the gun as well and perhaps try it with another scope. Thankfully my time reading all of the rifle scope reviews paid off and I have a nice scope I will keep mounted on my nice deer hunting rifle for a long time.
