Purchase: Hunting Gear Misc I got it as a gift from Bass Pro Outdoor World so I don't know exactly how much it cost. I will guess about $580-600. It took some hinting and the advice of a friend to get my wife to buy it for my birthday. My friend didn't even know I was interested in this gun. He had just heard good things about it and tipped her off. I had read good reviews and wanted to give the 935 a try.
Things I like about the Mossberg 935 Magnum Grand Slam Turkey Semi-Auto Hunting Gear Misc: Simply put, I love this shotgun. I love it! It is the best turkey gun I have ever shot, regardless of price. Out of the box it shot dead-on at thirty yards using Winchester Supreme. The pattern is outstanding. Considering it costs one-half to one-third the price of a Benelli, I am amazed. The length of pull seems a bit shorter to me, although I haven't measured it; so it's maybe one-half inch shorter, so it is extremely nice for smaller stature people like myself or people who like an easy-to-swing shotgun. Because it is the turkey model, it is a 22-inch barrel and uses the AccuMag extended turkey choke. It defiantly does the job. It has a nice tight pattern at thirty to forty yards with the #4 lead I was using. I will probably settle at #5 though. Recoil is very manageable. I shot it side-by-side with a similar-sized 500 pump and the recoil was noticeably less -- likely due to the semi-auto system -- more shoulder friendly.
What I don't like about the Mossberg 935 Magnum Grand Slam Turkey Semi-Auto: There is nothing I dislike about this gun. If I had to be picky, I would like the checkering on the fore-end grip to go a bit higher, but that is petty.
Hunting Gear Misc 935 Magnum Grand Slam Turkey Semi-Auto quality: It has a tang safety that is easy to reach with either hand. The camo finish is nicely done. Fit and finish is superb. It comes with fiber optic sights that are easy to eyeball in any light. The unit comes with a basic sling and swivels. This is handy because I always forget to buy them when I buy a gun! The grip areas are slim; this is nice for small to medium hands or when wearing gloves. The stocks are not overly thick, which is usful when carrying bulky hunting items. Nothing like a clunky gun to make it a chore. That is not the case with this gun.
935 Magnum Grand Slam Turkey Semi-Auto summary: The Mossberg 935 is an outstanding value for the money -- or any money for that matter. I wish I had bought the two-barrel package (with the 28" waterfowl barrel too) to save me ordering that barrel too. I will be ordering it. I can't wait to try that one on ducks. I love this gun and you will too. It's made in the USA!
