Purchase: Shooting Accessories I found out about this cleaner on a pistol forum shortly after the Gun Cleaner became available. I was able to get a free sample to try on my pistol. I figured that for free, it was worth trying, even though I didn't think it could be as good as my beloved Hoppe's #9. After seeing how it worked, I went out and bought more at about $10 for a large tube.
Things I like about the NOVUM SOLUTIONS, INC Blue Wonder Gun Cleaner Shooting Accessories: I had been using Hoppes #9 and the Hoppes Copper Solvent to clean my guns, and at my next cleaning session I cleaned my pistols as usual, making sure the patches came out clean. I then used the Blue Wonder Gun Cleaner according to the directions and did a double take when I saw the patches. I was amazed at how blue-green, followed black, and then blue-green, the patches were. It removes stuff left behind by other cleaning products. I have since tried other cleaning solvents, and I keep coming back to the Blue Wonder. It also lasts longer than a typical sized bottle of other solvents.
What I don't like about the NOVUM SOLUTIONS, INC Blue Wonder Gun Cleaner: It's a bit more time consuming than others, but that may be because it works differently. It removes fouling layer by layer, so it took several applications, going from black to green to black to green, etc., to finally get a clean barrel. It doesn't have any lubrication or protectant, but the same company makes Disotec XFR for that, which I also use on all my guns.
Shooting Accessories Blue Wonder Gun Cleaner quality: The tube the cleaner comes in is your typical squeeze tube, made of the same plastic as the tubes you can get small amounts of window caulk in. The cap screws off and you can squeeze the cleaner onto your brush. The cleaner is a clear-yellow gel that sticks to your brush and to the inside of the bore instead of dripping out like most liquid solvents (I'm not saying the other solvents are all wet, but...). There is a slight ammonia smell, so you can tell it's working on that accuracy-robbing copper.
Blue Wonder Gun Cleaner summary: If you are looking for a cleaner that will give you a mirror clean bore, even after many shooting sessions without cleaning, this cleaner is up to the task. I'm no solvent snob, but I don't use anything else on my guns now. In fact, I use their entire line of products on my rifle and pistols.
