Things I like about the NcStar 25mm Red/Green Dot Open Reflex Sight Rifle Scopes: This unit is ruggedly built. The dual red and green dot modes are great for different lighting conditions. The sight is mostly all alloy construction. Dual weaver and 3/8" dovetail rimfire mounting configurations work well and are very handy. Windage and elevation adjustments are marked on the unit and a drop of blue loctite will secure your settings well. And it looks cool. You shoot with both eyes open which is ideal. This is a very fast sight.
What I don't like about the NcStar 25mm Red/Green Dot Open Reflex Sight: The dot is pretty large, so hitting small targets with pinpoint accuracy beyond about 25m is not possible.
Rifle Scopes 25mm Red/Green Dot Open Reflex Sight quality: This thing is build solidly. It will last a long time under normal operation. It uses readily available CR2032 coin batteries and battery life seems decent. The mounting system clamps down quite securely on either weaver or rimfire bases. This sight is rugged enough to handle heavy recoil from air rifles, shotguns, and magnum pistols.
25mm Red/Green Dot Open Reflex Sight summary: This is a great sight for short range shooting, like handguns, air rifles, and shotguns. At 100m the dot will cover a large portion of the target. You will hit it but not with any precision. I use this on my air rifle, and I can easily hit a crushed pop can at about 25m almost every shot. This sight is ideal for backyard plinking, firing handguns at night, and it would be good on a shotgun also. Its not a scope by any means, but for short range shooting this sight is great.
