Action Optics Ambush Sunglasses
Sunglasses Manufacturer: Action Optics
Action Optics Model: Ambush
Review Category: Sunglasses
Purchase: I purchased these at a fly fishing shop in Lake Tahoe, California while on vacation.
Things I like about the Action Optics Ambush: They are lightweight, comfortable to wear and have great optical lens quality.
What I don't like about the Action Optics Ambush: These are very fragile sunglasses. The lenses are merely popped into the frames and have a tendency to pop out with slightest pressure or twist on the frame. My lenses have come out in some very inopertune times like when wading a river or traversing the shore line to get to the next nice pool or carrying a bag of groceries out of the store. Having glass lenses, this is not good when they land on pavement or on streamside rocks.
Ambush quality: Quality of contruction is the primary reason I don't recommend these sunglasses. The frame to lens construction is weak and I have lost many lenses to these sunglasses over the 2 years I have owned them. On the plus side, the optical quality and polarization of the lenses are the best I've found, but that doesn't do you much good if you are picking up pieces of the lens off of the ground. They are comfortable and stylish.
Ambush summary: These have ended up to be the most expensive sunglasses I've ever owned. I paid around $130 to purchase them and everytime they have broken, Action Optics have charged me $35 to $60 to have them repaired. The pair of Action Optics Ambush sunglasses that I own have now cost me $275 over the past 2 years to keep them servicable. I would choose a different manufacurer if I were purchasing a new pair of polarized fishing glasses.
