Things I like about the Abu Garcia Cardinal 502 Fishing Reels: The best things about this reel are the aluminum frame and the drag system, absloutley unbeatable. No frame flex of any sort and there's even a slight ergonomic shape to the base so it's comfortable casting non-stop for hours at a time. The Drag is very convienent because you don't get tangled up in the line trying to increase drag when you hook a bigger fish than you expect with front drag and in a more natural location than rear drag.
What I don't like about the Abu Garcia Cardinal 502: It's not a downfall but it's just not as good as some shimano reels. It dosent' have the smoothness of the high end shimano reels for this price, but it's far better than anything you'll get from quantum, shakespeare or others.
Fishing Reels Cardinal 502 quality: I've caught a 18lb fish on a unit made for 8lb line with no sign of stress. I've also had it for 2 years and it still works as well as the day I bought it with regular maintenance.
Cardinal 502 summary: Awesome trout reel, and a good match to wrestel big fish on smaller line. Not the best choice if you only plan to own one reel. Best at what it does, a lightweight spinning reel.
