Traditions Lightning Bolt Black Powder
Black Powder Manufacturer: Traditions
Traditions Model: Lightning Bolt
Review Category: Black Powder
Purchase: Black Powder I bought this as my first muzzleloader as inexpensive entry-level gun. I got it at Bass Pro on sale for $99.99.
Things I like about the Traditions Lightning Bolt Black Powder: Right out of the box it was shooting dead on. I had shots at 50 yards touching each other and this is the first time I've shot a rifle with open sights. The fiber optic sights are very bright.
What I don't like about the Traditions Lightning Bolt: My fourth and ninth shot misfired when the 209 primer never went off. I cleaned the bolt and fired two more primers and one of the didn't go off. A gunsmith looked over the gun and couldn't find anything wrong with it. He tried 5 shots and also had a misfire.
Black Powder Lightning Bolt quality: The quality is what you pay for. A 20% failure rate is completely unacceptable.
Lightning Bolt summary: Bass Pro stood by the product and issued a full refund. I won't be buying another cheap gun again.
