Kershaw knives Ken Onion "Leek" Hunting Knives
Hunting Knives Manufacturer: Kershaw knives
Kershaw knives Model: Ken Onion "Leek"
Review Category: Hunting Knives
Purchase: Hunting Knives By the way, I think this is a "Leek," but I'm not totally sure. The MSRP for the Leek on the Kershaw website is $79.95, but I'm pretty sure my friend, who gave it to me as a groomsman's gift, got it for $15-$25.
Things I like about the Kershaw knives Ken Onion "Leek" Hunting Knives: This has an "assisted opening," which means that when you press down on the blade opening tab that the blade actually flips open. It's not a switchblade, it's just assisted. The blade is REALLY sharp. I hope that I can get that great edge back on it once it needs to be sharpened. One of the sharpest knives I've ever used. It has a lockout feature to lock the blade in place if you want to. The handle is a nice powder coated metal.
What I don't like about the Kershaw knives Ken Onion "Leek": The lockout button isn't marked for which way is lock or unlock, so I scratched a little "L" into the powdercoat next to the lock position. The assisted opening freaks me out that I would inadvertently open it in my pocket, so I often use the lockout feature.
Hunting Knives Ken Onion "Leek" quality: Excellent quality.
Ken Onion "Leek" summary: This has a bit of seration on the lower part of the blade, which is also super sharp. Whether this is a plus or minus for you just depends on what your preference in a knife is. It's a very sharp, high quality knife that is fun to flip open when you need to do a chore or cut some bait. It's so sharp that I am always very careful with it.
