Shimano Scorpion 1000 Bass Fishing Reels
Bass Fishing Reels Manufacturer: Shimano
Shimano Model: Scorpion 1000
Review Category: Bass Fishing Reels
Purchase: Bass Fishing Reels I enjoyed Quantum's reel's with its external brake systems, but I prefer shimano reels, especially the curado series. I was looking if shimano made any reels with external brakes and I found the Shimano Scorpion (that has an external brake system). I found this at Japantackle.com for $153.00.
Things I like about the Shimano Scorpion 1000 Bass Fishing Reels: Well I have to say that this is the best reel that I have ever used (that is in my price range). Great like the curado, but better with the external brake system (I thought it was a hassel sometimes to unscrew the side plate and sometimes I would accidentally flick the brake units off). The scorpion also seems to be smoother and cast much further than the curado (has a wiffle/drilled spool). The reel is extremly light, which I also thought was a plus when fishing all day. It is also a very good looking reel, I think its a wine or maroon color.
What I don't like about the Shimano Scorpion 1000: The only thing that I do not like about this reel is that it is not in the states. This can only be bought in Japan.
Bass Fishing Reels Scorpion 1000 quality: Great construction, just like the Curado 100. Just a hair lighter and with external brakes and drilled spool.
Scorpion 1000 summary: Bottom line, if you are a shimano fan, I reccomend that you check this reel out. It is definatly worth the $153.
