Purchase: Fishing Rods Aquired the rods from Taveners in Lytham St Annes in North west England and paid £70.00 pound each for them (I bought two)
Things I like about the Shakespeare Ugly Stik (15') Beach Catster 1335-450 Fishing Rods: Solid construction has to be the main feature of this rod and its claim to be the strongest tubular rod in the world. The standard of finish is good in its new livery.
What I don't like about the Shakespeare Ugly Stik (15') Beach Catster 1335-450: Only one gripe to mention, and that is they are extremely heavy compared to other rods of the same length. Given the fact they will spend most of there time on the rests this should not be a problem but i am sure it would tire the arms should you find yourself engaged with a fish of decent size. One massive gripe is the rod would benefit from a multiplier version being availabe, and at the moment only comes in the fixed spool model. This is a shame because it is bound to be a massive seller here in the UK.
Fishing Rods 1335-450 quality: The rod is solid with good quality fittings throughout and comes equipped with Fuji rings. As it is a two piece rod it large by any standard when transporting but it is well worth it as the action of the rod is superb.
1335-450 summary: Another true classic from Shakespeare and the Ugly Stik camp. Heavweight in the Beach Caster department but reasuringly solid and capable of dredging the ocean floor for certain. This is a rod I would have expected to pay more for and probaly would. Final thought: We need a multiplier version of this rod, if this happens it going to be really big in more than one sense.
