Purchase: Trail Cameras (m-s) I bought this unit about a year ago on sale from Cabela's for $149. I bought it because of the price, reputation and demonstrated pictures it could take. I thought this would be a good way to get into trail cameras.
Things I like about the Moultrie Cabela's Outfitter Cam 4.1 MP Digital Game Camera Trail Cameras (m-s): I have been very disappointed with this unit.
What I don't like about the Moultrie Cabela's Outfitter Cam 4.1 MP Digital Game Camera: The unit was defective out of the package. I no more than got it out of the box and attempted to set up when I found it didn't work right. Upon calling Moultrie, I had to send it back which Moultrie ended up giving me a new unit. I have had this less than a year and it has yet again gone bazerk. Inserting a memory card causes the camera to not operate properly or to be set up. Further more, when it did work, it took pictures any time the cloud cover or sun position changed. It also ate 6 volt batteries like they were candy. The rechargible batteries didn't last much longer, even with a solar panel trickle charger. I have also seen Cabela's inventory of this camera moved to the bargain cave, right beside the large amount of returned units. Will do much more research before buying another trail camera. You get what you pay for in this unit.
Trail Cameras (m-s) Cabela's Outfitter Cam 4.1 MP Digital Game Camera quality: The bungee cord staps are a joke, especially with the weight of this unit. Construction is good as far as quality, see my other comments.
Cabela's Outfitter Cam 4.1 MP Digital Game Camera summary: Not worth the buy. I have seen other Moultrie products that have performed well as to be expected from Moultrie. This unit, being a Cabela's store branded item, manufactured by Moultrie, appears to be the victim of poor quality and shortcuts to sell product at a low cost with disregard to product quality. In this case, I believe Cabela's poor product specs hurt Moultrie as well, as well as other products that I have purchased with the Cabela's brand on them.
