Shimano Stradic MGFB 2500 MGFB Fishing Reels
Fishing Reels Manufacturer: Shimano Stradic MGFB
Shimano Stradic MGFB Model: 2500 MGFB
Review Category: Fishing Reels
Purchase: Fishing Reels I usually never buy any of my expensive fishing rods or reels in a store. I almost always buy my rods and reels on e bay. I paid $190 for it (shipped) so including tax that’s a savings of around $56! I just wanted a better reel for my G loomis IMX.
Things I like about the Shimano Stradic MGFB 2500 MGFB Fishing Reels: I'm not kidding, this reel is seriously almost as good as a Stella FB. I believe the Stalla FB is just a tad smoother and on a scale from 1 to 10 in overall quality Stella being a 10 the new Stradic 2500 MGFB is a 9.3 and will blow your mind. So how good is this newly designed Stradic MGFB? To break it down, when compared to last year’s Sustain the new Stradic MGFB is a half an ounce lighter and has a magnesium frame and side plate, the Sustain does not. The new Stradic MGFB also has a titanium lip on the spool and Shimano was kind enough to grace us with a spare spool! I have to tell you that the drag on this redesigned Stradic MGFB is a complete WAR BEAST! When you compare the (water proof) max drag on the Stradic 2500 MGFB to the Stella 2500 FB’s (also water proof) the Stradic has almost twice the max drag power 15.0 to the Stella FB’s 8.0! I have used all of these reels and the Stella really rocks you know? But to be honest with you, for the money, I would much rather have the Stradic 2500 MGFB. And that’s why I bought this to replace my Quantum energy PTI-a 20 and its ridiculous gap in the bail wire that catches your line so it never gets to the roller then when you catch a fish the line with force open the bail and you lose the fish (it’s a barrel of monkeys I assure you). That happened to me about 200 times, but no longer will those bail problems trouble me because the Stradic’s bail was designed by someone with more than an infant’s capacity for common sense!
What I don't like about the Shimano Stradic MGFB 2500 MGFB: To be honest there isn’t one bad thing I can say about the Stradic 2500 MGFB at this time other than it’s a half ounce heaver than the older Stradic 2500 MGFA model. $40 more than the Stradic MGFA.
Fishing Reels 2500 MGFB quality: The quality approaches that of the Stella FB, no joke! And in a few areas ever surpasses it!
2500 MGFB summary: The bottom line, bring an extra pair of socks fishing because this new breed of Stradics MGFB and FI will knock your socks off! These redesigned reels are vastly improved over their older counterparts. New Paladin gear, new aluminum rotor, new magnesium side plate, an added bearing, new extra spool (Thank you!!!), and an ultralight model just to name a few of the improvements! I know you have heard what I'm about to tell you before but this time it’s different because I’m telling you, and nobody is paying me to say this. If you have the means, buy this reel, this is one purchase you won’t soon regret!
