Purchase: Fishing Rods I purchased two of these rods from Academy Sports at around $40 each. One of the rods was a 6'6" medium action, the other was a 6'6" medium light action. I have used uglystick rods for years but never really liked how heavy the rods were, but I liked every other thing about them, so I decided to try the UglyStick Lite. What a great find.
Things I like about the Shakespear UglyStick Lite Fishing Rods: These rods are very light and user friendly. The cork handles ensure a good grip for good hooksets. Great stength and backbone without sacrificing sensitivity. I believe you could actually do as the commercial shows and put it in a garbage compactor and not hurt the rod.
What I don't like about the Shakespear UglyStick Lite: There is nothing I dislike. It is hard to dislike a rod that gives you what the uglystick lite does for the price.
Fishing Rods UglyStick Lite quality: These rods are graphite core with silicone lined line guides and cork handles. Great combination for the weekend but serious angler like myself.
UglyStick Lite summary: The bottom line is that Shakespears UglyStick Lite rods are the best rods an angler can buy for the amount of money they cost. It does not matter if you are freshwater or saltwater. These rods can handle anything. I've caught largemouth bass one day and speckled trout the next day with mine.
