Purchase: Black Powder sportsmans warehouse was having a coupon book sale and the inline muzzle loader was 100$ off. it was a very random purchase but i couldn't be happier with it. with the coupon the gun set me back $480.00.
Things I like about the CVA optima pro 50 cal. Black Powder: This piece has a very slim design with a break breach and easy to remove plug. The gun is very easy to clean and uses black powder pellets and a connicle bullet. Instead of the traditional loose powder balls. The piece is very accurate and it was made to easily attach a scope. (the nikon omega scope is best).
What I don't like about the CVA optima pro 50 cal.: this gun is verry heavy. and if your not using sulferless powder it is messy to clean. (although most muzzle loaders are)it came in mossy oak camo. i just took it appart and repainted it the way i liked.
Black Powder optima pro 50 cal. quality: The optima pro has a very simple design and is made with synthetic material. I took it apart to repaint all but the barrel and there was no confusion in putting it back together. This gun can take a beating. I've dropped mine from about five feet it bounced and recieved a small scratch. The thing still fired fine and the omega scope was still zeroed in.
optima pro 50 cal. summary: This gun is a great first time or pro hunter black powder rifle. being a 50 caliber rifle that uses bullets you can pick an animal, any animal, and with a well placed shot, take it from 50 to 250 yards away. I purchased this gun as a high school graduation gift to myself and shoot it as often as I can. I forgot to clean it once when my buddy and I was shooting. Two weeks later I hit it with one damp and two dry patches and it was clean. This is also because I had used Hodgdens triple seven sulfur-less powder.
