Purchase: Black Powder Bought at Cabelas online; First time muzzleloader, and didn't want to spend $500, and paid $320 on sale with scope.
Things I like about the CVA Kodiak pro 209 Magnum muzzleloader .50 cal Black Powder: realtree camo on rifle is excellent; At first I shot 250 gr. powerbelts with 100 gr (two 50 gr. pellets) of pyrodex; accuracy was terrible; switched to triple zeven pellets with no improvement; Did some research, and switched to 250 gr. Barnes Spitfire all copper (.451 cal in sabot), and man what a difference; sub 1 inch groups at 100 yds; The Pineridge scope is also excellent; Also comes with sling; Easy to load and shoots as accurate as my 7 rem. mag. Excellent gun for the money;
What I don't like about the CVA Kodiak pro 209 Magnum muzzleloader .50 cal: Haven't found anything yet that I don't like, except I will tell everyone, dump the powerbelts; They load easy cause they dont give a good gas seal;
Black Powder Kodiak pro 209 Magnum muzzleloader .50 cal quality: Composite stock is super; Breech plug comes out easily; gun is very accurate with right ammo; I have the camo version, and you can rub this thing in the mud and shoot all day, go home and clean up with warm soapy water; Also, this gun has the same Bergera barrel that is used on much more expensive guns;
Kodiak pro 209 Magnum muzzleloader .50 cal summary: This gun will take all you can throw at it, and it still wants to do it's job; Has the magnum capability if one wants to shoot 150 grains of powder (ouch); It will definitely kill moose, bear, elk, and other large animals, as well as deer, and pigs; Talked my buddy into one, and he is as pleased as I am; Would recommend to anyone;
