Purchase: Rifle Scopes Purchased this scope from Cabelas in Pennsylvania after looking through it in the store. Mounted it on a 25-06 barrel for my TC encore. Wanted the 14 power for a little extra range for the 20-06. Paid $349.99.
Things I like about the Cabelas Alaskan Guide Scope 4.5x14x44 AO Rifle Scopes: After owning a Leopold 3.5x10 for thirty years, I was impressed with the clarity of the Alaskan Guide and the amount of light. I especially like the Adjustable Objective which keeps a clear sight picture throughout the power range. I also liked the price which was about half of a comparable Leopold.
What I don't like about the Cabelas Alaskan Guide Scope 4.5x14x44 AO: So far, I have not found any features which I dislike.
Rifle Scopes 4.5x14x44 AO quality: Very clear glass. Good light transmission. The clicks are crisp and adjustable by knobs instead of by screwdriver or coins as on other scopes.
4.5x14x44 AO summary: I am very impressed with the quality of this scope. It provides a good field of view with good light transmission throughout the power range. After range use and hunting the point of impact has not changed. The adjustments are accurate. You can shoot a box with this scope by moving the adjustments 4 clicks up, 4 clicks to the left, 4 clicks down and 4 clicks to the right and return to the original point of aim. Any scope that does this is worthy of consideration.
