Purchase: Fishing Misc Equip I have boundaries that I am required to stay within. I bought this kite to try and extend my fishing area. I mail ordered this kite from Bass Pro Shops. I purchased with both the light and medium spars for about 79 bucks.
Things I like about the Aftco Fishing Kite Fishing Misc Equip: Very well put together unit. Nice carbon fiber light spars and fiberglass medium spars. Comes with a carry tube that protects the kite and spars when not in use. Set up is straight forward. Take out of the tube, put in the spars and connect to kite line. If you read the provided directions, anyone can get this kite to fly in 4 to 25 mph winds. I have let the kite fall in the water when the wind conditions dropped below 4 mph. We were busy crankin in a fish when this happened. I was a little scared when I started to reel the kite in from the water. Alot of resistance, take your time if this happens. I am happy to say that I was able to retieve and get it right back in the air. It really does fly even after soaking in the ocean. I bought the kite to get some distance to deeper water. I have only used it once for what I intended to use it for. I am now happy to say that kite fishing is a must for me. It is alot of fun to see fish hit your bait on the surface of the water. My catches are normally sailfish, barracuda, and mackeral. Despite regular use, we always get excited when the fish hit the kite bait. Looking for a new way to fish? Buy an Aftco Kite. What I don't like about the Aftco Fishing Kite: Here you GO!!! The only thing I do not like about this AFTCO kite is you need wind to fly it. Cant even really say that either, if you buy helium balloons, you can still kite fish on the calm days.
Fishing Misc Equip Fishing Kite quality: Professionally constructed. Not junk. Carbon fiber spar says it all. Both the carbon fiber and fiber glass spars have the ends tipped with plastic to protect the nylon. Rip Stop nylon sail, easy adjustable bridle. Outstanding directions. Even teaches you how to set up to fish. I didnt know anything about fishing with a kite except reading their directions. I caught a fish before I had the kite all the way out. The bait racing across the surface really gets the big guys attention.
Fishing Kite summary: Seasoned kite fisherman looking for good quality kite or just getting started. Nice package deal and the price was right compaired to other designs. Remember, this kite flys in winds from 4 mph - 25 mph. Other designs will require two different kites to accomplish this task. I mainly use for Salt water fishing, but cant wait to try it fresh water fishing. What a hoot!!
