Purchase: Black Powder My Optima was purchased off of E-Bay, used, back before they stopped listings of firearms. The purchase price was $350.00 for the Optima, extra barrel and a Inline not sure of brand. Purchase was made because of feedback from a fellow hunter friend of mine, who loves his Optima.
Things I like about the CVA OPTIMA Black Powder: It price, performance, ease of use, lifetime warrenty and apperance!
What I don't like about the CVA OPTIMA: I only have one of them.
Black Powder OPTIMA quality: Optima is Solid and built to very nice standards.
OPTIMA summary: Upon arrival I sold all but the Optima and the shorter of the two barrels. Purchased a mid range BSA Blackpowder scope and set out to site in. After way too many rounds 30-40 using different conbinations of powder, was totally frustrated at the lack of grouping. Thinking I had purchased a Bum Gun I contacted CVA. Upon answering a series of questions about my total set up,I became aware that the paper thin Gap between the barrel and scope may be the problem. CVA also sent me FREE of charge the proper Ram Rod for my Optima and a Hammer extention and Breach opening Lever Tip that were missing upon purchase. After a new set of higher rings, my first three shots,using 110 grains of powder and 145 grain Power Belts at 60 yds were less than 2 in apart. Finally a group! I have since gone to 100 grains Pellet form. I am very pleased with the performance of this muzzleloader. It has put meat in the freezer every year and the past two years I have found it to be my gun of choice when treestand sitting. I personally am looking to purchase another Optima for my Son and would recommend the Optima to anyone looking for a great gun at a good price. Sincerely, Michael M. Flook
