Purchase: Fishing Lures I actually won a couple of jakes in a contest a while ago, but I think they cost about 11$ in the US. Here in Sweden they cost about 16-17$.
Things I like about the Musky mania Jake 6' Fishing Lures: First of all, the jake catches fish! I've caught lot's of northerns with these lures during early fall. I really like the steady wobble of the Jake, and I think it performs best when you just reel it in with a steady retrive. The Jake comes in some attractive color patterns. The stock hooks you get when you buy it are descent, not as good as owner or eagle claw but the work. The clearcoat of the Jake is good, it protects the color well.
What I don't like about the Musky mania Jake 6': What I don't like about the Jake is that there are 3 hooks, those two on the belly tangles alot, which is quite annoying. The overall finish of the lures isn't great, there are left-over plastics from the molding, finger-prints in the clearcoat... At one occasion the lip fell off when I was reeling it in :(
Fishing Lures Jake 6' quality: The overall quality is good, the plastic body is robust, one time I accidently threw the Jake into a rock and it came back relatively unharmed, just a couple of minor scratches in the clearcoat. As I said before, I'm a little bit disappointed with the lip, I would have given this lure a higher rating if the lip was molded together with the body instead of glued poorly.
Jake 6' summary: I would call this lure OK, it catches fish and it is relatively robust but the poor lip attachment and the overall finish of the lures brings the rating down a bit. I would give this product a 3 out of 5. I recommend the jake to you who wants a cheap crankbait/twitchbait for pike in the shallows.
