Purchase: Rifle Scopes Purchased on EBay out of some fly by night outfit in china. I needed a new scope and thought a Bushnell had a good reputation even though it was a cheap one. $ 60.00 US.
Things I like about the Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn Scope 3-9 x 40E Rifle Scopes: At this point there is nothing I like about this unit.
What I don't like about the Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn Scope 3-9 x 40E: There is no serial number on it so it cannot be traced to mfg. Bushnell say they didn't make it and cannot cover it with warranty. This unit does not gather as much light and is not as clear as my old scope I have had for 25 years.It came with bases as well. I wouldn't put them on my gun. They appear to be made with a hack saw and file, in someones garage. overall the quality and finish is very poor. the focus adjustment is so easily turned that it rolls if you brush it against your jacket. Therefor every time I go to look through the scope it is out of focus. After the initial sighting in, I headed out in the bush. Shot at a buck about 160 yds, away. He just hopped off the trail as if I had waved my arms. After establishing that I never came close to him I headed for the range. I was now shooting 8" to the right and 10" low at 100 yds. now when I shake the scope, the insides rattle and the rericle moves when the focus wheel is adjusted. I suppose it has self destructed. one more for the garbage can.
Rifle Scopes 3-9 x 40E quality: One poorly built item built by some body somewhere. It bought out of China, The box says Japan. I think it is a knock-off to sucker in dopes like me.
3-9 x 40E summary: This experience has made me wary of anything with the Bushnell name on it. If other countries can manufacture inferrior products and market them under a well known brand name. This leaves us wide open this type of rip off. By the time it was all done, the purcase, with shipping, import fees and taxes, was very close to what I could have bought a similar scope at the department store. The only differencs would have been that the departmeent store one would have had a serial number and would have had warranty attached to it. I won't do that again.
