Octane Hostage Pro Arrow rest Archery Equipment
Archery Equipment Manufacturer: Octane
Octane Model: Hostage Pro Arrow rest
Review Category: Archery Equipment
Purchase: Archery Equipment I purchased this rest at Cabelas in August 2009 for 69 dollars. I had just bought a new bow and decided to replace some of my old accessaries. I thought the design of it made sense and another customer at the store gave it a good endorsement.
Things I like about the Octane Hostage Pro Arrow rest Archery Equipment: I like the full capture design without having fletching contact. It also is adjustable to fit any diameter arrow. It has a solid mounting system with clear increment markings. It appears to be well built and also came with replacement brushes.
What I don't like about the Octane Hostage Pro Arrow rest: It makes noise when drawing the arrow back. The brushes melt on the tips from the friction of the arrow being shot making the noise progessivly louder. It loads from the 12 oclock position which makes it hard to insert the arrow without hitting my bowsite housing. None of these flaws bode well for stealthy hunting.
Archery Equipment Hostage Pro Arrow rest quality: As described above, I think the brushes are the fatal flaw. The rest of the construction is all good.
Hostage Pro Arrow rest summary: I guess I am still a fan of drop-away rests. This has been a 69 dollar lesson for me. I did also buy the Octane 7" stabalizer and I love it. Hopefully they will fix the brush issue on this rest. I will probably hand this rest down to my wife when I buy her a new bow. I think it is good enough for beginners.
