Feather flex Rigor Rabbit Calls Lures Scents

Calls Lures Scents Manufacturer: Feather flex
Feather flex Model: Rigor Rabbit
Review Category: Calls Lures Scents

Purchase: Calls Lures Scents Acquired this product about five years ago as a Christmas present (at my request). Purchased from Cabalas for about $60. I thought it would improve the odds for successful predator hunting.

Things I like about the Feather flex Rigor Rabbit Calls Lures Scents: I like the fact the unit is lightweight.Where I hunt here in Eastern Canada the cover is thick so there's allways a fair bit of walking involved to get to a suitable stand location. This means I carry a packsack with electronic caller, shooting rest, etc. in the pack. If the decoy wasn't lightweight I wouldn't have been able to carry it in this fashion.

What I don't like about the Feather flex Rigor Rabbit: It's noisy - so much so that it's a disadvantage to use. The motor buzzes and the "flapper" atop the drive often makes a thunking sound inside the hollow body of the foam rabbit. The base is not stable either. If bedded down in packed snow it just might stay put but most times the snow condition is too dry or the location you want to put the unit, won't allow for this.

Calls Lures Scents Rigor Rabbit quality: I had no problem with the motor/drive mechanism as other reviewers have indicated other than the noise but I don't think the decoy itself looks realistic. I tricked it out by skinning a hare and placing the hide over the foam rabbit form to help with the realism. I discarded the unstable round base and replaced with a larger more rigid rectangular foam - the kind gardeners kneel on while tending their flowers. I wrapped the motor with foam and duct tape with just room enough to activate the on/off switch.

Rigor Rabbit summary: I did everything I could think of to assist with the decoy's function but it really didn't help. The obvious purpose of this decoy is to help get wary predators within shooting distance and to deflect attention from yourself. The concept itself is great but the unit has to perform.I've long since given up on this product as useless.
