Purchase: Fishing Tackle This trolling motor was purchased by my wife from Cabela's and was given to me as a birthday present. It replaced an older Minn Kota and supplies a few added pounds of thrust.
Things I like about the Minn Kota Vector 55 Fishing Tackle: The long telescoping handle can really be appreciated for its ease with the steering. The boat can be steered with my legs at times when standing.
What I don't like about the Minn Kota Vector 55: I have been disappointed with the reverse thrust on this motor. The prop looks to be absolutely fine but I'll be changing it out to see if I can't get some improvement here.
Fishing Tackle Vector 55 quality: The yoke which locks the motor into its varied positions has broken once. I ordered the new yoke and found it simple to replace.
Vector 55 summary: The telescoping handle is handy and the motor has had a couple hundred hours of use in the past few years. Only the yoke has failed and I'm not going to complain about that little thing. I'm not easy on equipment and I expect stuff to do its job under whatever I put it through. This unit does its job just fine.
