Purchase: Hunting Gear Misc I purchased this product from a sporting goods store for around $310.00. It was a package gun in .270 win with simmons 3x9x40, carry strap, and trigger lock. I purchased rifle for backup to my other savage fcm sierra in .270 wsm.
Things I like about the savage arms model 111 fcxp3 Hunting Gear Misc: Price, quality, dependability, accuracy, and simple user design. Savage rifles simply excel at out of the box accuracy. This rifle will shoot 1" moa at 100 yards. This is with "budget" scope, rings, and bases.
What I don't like about the savage arms model 111 fcxp3: Because of the cost of the rifle, I do not think there is anything not to like. I immediately changed the shoulder strap. I am currently in the process of changing the bases to something more "beefy", and the scope to something "nikon" more dependable. This is not to say the original setup did not work. I am just "up grading" as my budget allows. You can purchase this rifle, sight it in and hunt, period.
Hunting Gear Misc model 111 fcxp3 quality: Again, because of the low purchase cost, quality is excellent. I have and have owned several savage arms rifles and all have performed flawlessly. This one is no different. I have fired around 100 rounds through it, and have taken a bobcat with it, at about 60 yards, and it performed excellent.
model 111 fcxp3 summary: This package/rifle works. Upgrade the shoulder strap (especially if you have to hike any). Then as budget allows, upgrade the optics. Some good optics will only make this rifle better. The trigger is a little rough, but OK if you are accustomed to older hunting rifles. There are triggers available for around $100.00, any gunsmith can install. I take 2 - 5 deer a season, and I will not be changing the trigger in mine. It works.
