Purchase: Fishing Misc Equip I saw it in WalMart. The price at $20 was right for a small Smart charger.
Things I like about the Vector Battery Charger 2 / 4 / 6 amp Vector Battery Charger Fishing Misc Equip: It charges batteries just fine, and in three stages as advertised, providing you remove the DC cables soon after charging is completed, because the internal fan keeps running off the battery power, and the charger will not turn itself back on unless manualy reset.
What I don't like about the Vector Battery Charger 2 / 4 / 6 amp Vector Battery Charger: The internal cooling fan starts running as soon as the DC cables are connected, using the 12 volt power in the battery to power it. If you were to connect the cables and not turn the charger on, it will run the battery stone dead. When you do turn the charger on, it charges the battery, then turns itself off, but will NOT turn itself back on until it is manualy reset, but the fan keeps running, powered only by the battery, therefore the battery is slowly discharging, and will be stone dead in a short time on a small battery. It is very poor engineering. And now after only 6 months old, the fan is screeching and chattering badly, so I just quit using it.
Fishing Misc Equip 2 / 4 / 6 amp Vector Battery Charger quality: It is a nice looking charger and except for the above mentioned serious problems, it seems to be well constructed.
2 / 4 / 6 amp Vector Battery Charger summary: It could have been an exellent product. But as it turned out it is absolutely worthless. I contacted the factory on fan running all the time, and they said that was correct and was not a problem, because it would take a week for the battery to run dead. Their attitude was very bad.
