Shimano Calyx-100a Fishing Reels
Fishing Reels Manufacturer: Shimano
Shimano Model: Calyx-100a
Review Category: Fishing Reels
Purchase: Fishing Reels I bought this reel because I had read reviews on it and seen it on tv and it looked like a really nice, easy to use reel. So I went down to a nearby walmart and picked up one and tested it out. It is a phenominal reel, probably one of the easiest baitcast reels to cast that I have ever owned. And it is budget friendly too, I only paid $75 for it.
Things I like about the Shimano Calyx-100a Fishing Reels: I loved how in contol I felt with this reel. I could virtually pick out a spot in the middle of a downed tree or weed bed and flip my lures right into it. Also I have only had about five "bird's nests" and when you do get one they clean up fairly quickly. And its 5:8:1 gear ratio makes for a smooth retrieve.
What I don't like about the Shimano Calyx-100a: Line capacity, but it still isn't that bad. 8/175;10/155;12/130
Fishing Reels Calyx-100a quality: The construction of this reel is great. Its super stong one piece aluminum frame keeps the reel light while letting you handle the toughest fish on the water.
Calyx-100a summary: This is an over-all great reel to own. You can fish for about any fish spices with it. I've caught musky, northern, walleye, bass, and crappies on this reel.
