Purchase: Purchased new online at E-Bay for $280 from JJI Electronics ("purchase now"). I use it for artifact recovery and treasure hunting. I could not find one to look at in any store , so I bought online. I did not think of sporting stores like Bass Pro stocking this type of item.
Things I like about the Magellan GPS Meridian Color: I like the flexability, expandability, portability, ease of use and accuracey of this unit. Marking possible artifact and treasure dig sites is way too easy!
What I don't like about the Magellan GPS Meridian Color: The unit comes with a downloading cord to connect to your PC, but incredibly it's a female plug, that cannot plug in to a PC without some sort of adapter.
Meridian Color quality: The Magellan Color Meridian is definitely a very durable GPS unit, as well as an extremely well designed unit to the extent that you don't even need to read the directions. It even has the directions on the menu "help" listing right in the unit itself!
Meridian Color summary: I would recommend this unit for all serious sports, hunting, hiking, treasure, traveling or fishing enthusiasts as well as anyone who wants to travel in a car and not get lost. Even on endless miles of unmarked country dirt roads in the dark, I still don't get lost. Especially, since I don't have any sense of direction, whatsoever!
