Power-Pro Micro Filament Fishing Line

Fishing Line Manufacturer: Power-Pro
Power-Pro Model: Micro Filament
Review Category: Fishing Line

Purchase: Fishing Line I have bought Power-Pro line for a lot of my reels now. It is more expensive than Mono but well worth it, read on.

Things I like about the Power-Pro Micro Filament Fishing Line: This line is a braided line made of Spectra Fiber. It is very strong and the braid is very tight making it thinner than mono of the same pound test. I have 65 pound Power-Pro on my Muskie rods and it is the diameter of 16lb monofilament. The tight braid also means a lot less water retention than other braided lines. Another important difference over some braided lines is the line is round not flat. This helps prevent the line from cutting down into your spool under the preassure of fighting a fish. The favorite part of Power-Pro for me is the near zero stretch of the line. Mono is quite stretchy and basically acts like a rubberband, especially with lots of line out. What this means to the angler is a much better feel of what is happening at the lure. The exciting part is when you are fighting a fish. You can now feel every headshake and move the fish makes. The extra expense of the line is negated by it's longevity. It will hold it's strength much longer than mono and I have even stripped the line off my reels and wound it back on from the other end and doubled the life of the line. It does not get a memory and want to curl up like monofilament line either.

What I don't like about the Power-Pro Micro Filament : The line is a bit slippery and you have to tie your knots carefully and test them. The extra effort is made easier with a brochure that comes with the line showing you a few good knots

Fishing Line Micro Filament quality: The quality and meterials has been consistantly outstanding from all the Power-Pro spools I have bought.

Micro Filament summary: You can fish a little heaver strength line for security and still have thinner more stealth presentation. The thin diameter casts like a dream. I have it on both Baitcasters and spinning reels.
