Purchase: Fishing Rods I recently purchased a St Croix Avid series travel rod from Bass Pro shop in St. Charles Missouri. I paid $220.00 for the rod.
Things I like about the St. Croix Avid Series AFT909 Fishing Rods: The Avid series travel fly rod allows you to go anywhere with it. The rod can be taken on planes without hassel and assembly is very easy. It is a strong sturdy rod and the cork is extremely smooth and comfortable, which makes it easy to hold all day. With fast action great for fishing the inshores of florida when your looking for those big game snook and reds. This rod has the power to pull fish from the mangroves (A must if you intend to throw into them). This rod is able to do everything that a $500 rod can do. At $220 it was a steal in my book, and i saved hundreds buying this rod instead of a more expensive top of the line rod that does the same thing.
What I don't like about the St. Croix Avid Series AFT909: The only thing i didnt like about the rod is that it cant be purchased with the option of a silver colored aluminum reel seat. Other than that the rod is superb.
Fishing Rods AFT909 quality: The construction and quality of the unit is excellent. It is spined correctly which allows you to easily make those long cases and pull in this big fish. The craftsmanship of the rod is flawless and the cork finish is amazingly smooth.
AFT909 summary: The bottom line is that this rod is a steal for $220. It does everything that a $500 rod does at a little under half the price. With the Avid series there is no reason to go out and spend all that money when the Avid can do it just as good if not better.
