Smithwick Smithwick® Suspending Rattlin' Pro Rogue® Bass Lures Baits
Bass Lures Baits Manufacturer: Smithwick
Smithwick Model: Smithwick® Suspending Rattlin' Pro Rogue®
Review Category: Bass Lures Baits
Purchase: Bass Lures Baits Walmart, Ottawa, Canada - $7.49 CDN -acquired it there because there's no Bass Pro Shops within a four hour drive. Used a rogue for fall walleye fishing with great success... thought I'd see how it would work for spring 'Eyes.
Things I like about the Smithwick Smithwick® Suspending Rattlin' Pro Rogue® Bass Lures Baits: What I like most about the Smithwick Rogue is that it's been a proven fish-catcher. The Clown variation and the Blue-Chrome colour patterns have consistantly worked their magic in our Canadian waters.
What I don't like about the Smithwick Smithwick® Suspending Rattlin' Pro Rogue®: What's not to like? The only thing I'd like to see (not change) is the addition of a seven (7) inch model. Currently, I think the longest of the Rogues is a five and a half inch model... I'd love to see how a 7 inch Rogue would work in the late fall.
Bass Lures Baits Smithwick® Suspending Rattlin' Pro Rogue® quality: Classic jerbait construction: vivid fish attracting colours painted on solid bodies that can take the beating of strike after strike after strike. The hooks are needle sharp... fish get on and don't get off!
Smithwick® Suspending Rattlin' Pro Rogue® summary: I've been a huge fan of the Smithwick Rogue (in its many variations)since using it with great success in the fall walleye hunt a few years back. Now, I've read about what a great bass lure it is, but hey; for all you anglers north of the Mason-Dixon line: if you're even thinking about going after walleye this year, make sure you have at least a couple of these beauties in your tackle box. My preference would be the Clown and/or the Chrome/Blue variation. That's not to say the other colour options don't work, it's just to say that I can certainly vouch for these two. Proven workers, time and again. Now I know some of you might say "Fall walleye, almost anything works then!". Well that might be true ... but the Rogue works better! And, there are those out there that will tell you that for spring walleye fishing "you need to match the hatch", downsize your jerkbait to match the newly emerging baitfish... to this I say "go big or go home!". Those four to five inch Rogues you used in the fall, well, a nice slow troll with those same models is going to get you fish (and big fish at that) spring, summer and fall! So, for a proven three season lure that has the versatility of being a proven winner when any of the Big Three are your prey (Bucketmouths , pike and walleye), go with the Smithwick Rogue. You're really going to like what happens!
