Non-Typical Digital Cuddeback Trail Cameras (m-s)
Trail Cameras (m-s) Manufacturer: Non-Typical Digital
Non-Typical Digital Model: Cuddeback
Review Category: Trail Cameras (m-s)
Purchase: Trail Cameras (m-s) I got this camera at Bass Pro last fall. It currently sells for $399 and I got it because I did not own a trail camera and wanted a digital one.
Things I like about the Non-Typical Digital Cuddeback Trail Cameras (m-s): The Cuddeback is a digital camera and that being said it does not have the cost of film associated with it. I have 2 cards for this camera. I can go to the woods and switch cards in just a couple of minutes. The pictures are of decent quality and I like the video clips it takes. Also nice with this camera is that you have to have codes set to operate it. This means no one else but me can work this camera. It locks to the tree but if someone was to steal it they would not be able to use it in anyway. The codes you set so you can pick a code you will remember. Also being digital I don't have the limitations that 35mm does. I have had this camera take as many as 49 pictures and 27 video clips in 2 weeks. That would not be possible with a 35mm.
What I don't like about the Non-Typical Digital Cuddeback: After using the Cuddeback for about 9 months I do have one complaint. It eats batteries way to quickly. I go through 4 D batteries in 2-3 weeks. That is using energizer alkaline. Other batteries didn't even last that long. This makes it a problem if you can only check your camera every couple of months. I wanted the digital because I knew it could be a month or move for me before I could get back to check the camera. That is why I didn't get the 35mm.
Trail Cameras (m-s) Cuddeback quality: My Cuddeback has been used every day since I got it last fall. It has been out in rain, snow and temptures down below zero. All these conditions have caused no problems. It has never leaked water or failed because of anything other then dead batteries.
Cuddeback summary: Over all I would say that the Cuddeback is a good camera with only battery life being an issue. It is much cheaper to operate then the 35mm cameras, however, it does come with a rather high up front cost. I have heard that the newer models have fixed some issues and I am hoping that one of those is the battery life. I am not sure what other issues people have had with the Cuddeback. I have only heard about the battery life.
