Yamamoto Senko Fishing Tackle

Fishing Tackle Manufacturer: Yamamoto
Yamamoto Model: Senko
Review Category: Fishing Tackle

Purchase: Fishing Tackle I buy my Yamamoto products, Senkos, CutTails, Ikas, grubs etc from the Yamamoto web site, This allows me to choose from all of the colors and baits available. They cost $6 per bag of 10.

Things I like about the Yamamoto Senko Fishing Tackle: I started using Senkos about a year ago and is my bait of choice about 80% of the time. I fish a couple of days a week throughout the entire year. They just outperform the rest of my arsenal. Before Senkos, I loved my spinnerbaits and top waters. Worming and jigs would bore me with the waiting. A weightless Senko will explode bass for you. You just have to target the right pattern. Like any bait, they have their strong suits. Weightless Senkos work best in clear water down to 20' weightless, and deeper dropshotted. I look for 40 to 70 lipped bass a day using Senkos in the Spring, Summer, Fall. Slows way down in winter for me.

What I don't like about the Yamamoto Senko: These are ultra soft baits, softer than most hand pours. A $6 for 10, they can get costly, as baits go. To stretch them out, I will tex rig a couple of fish, then pull the hook and turn it 90 degrees, and get 1-2 more. Then I will wacky rig, hooking through the middle of the bait twice to kind of hold the two sides together. Never let the bass head shake them off. Grab it quick! I try to get 5 fish per bait. Stik-o ARE NOT the same bait. They hold up better and sink slightly differently. When the bass are active and biting good, I use Stik-os and save money. Most times, using the Yamamoto baits will catch me 30% more fish.

Fishing Tackle Senko quality: Although the construction is very soft, you can't argue with success. It is the quality of these baits that is putting the fish in my boat.

Senko summary: Again, a GREAT clear water bait. Greens in 194T, 324 and 901 are really good for me here in Central CA. Match the hatch for color, and the heavy salt quiver shake will make them bite!
