G. Loomis Adventure 7 Fly Reel Fishing Reels

Fishing Reels Manufacturer: G. Loomis
G. Loomis Model: Adventure 7 Fly Reel
Review Category: Fishing Reels

Purchase: When I set out this past summer to find the perfect fly reel for plying the salt at my local Southern California beaches I never dreamed I'd stumble upon such a jewel. Though not specifically designed for salt water use, the G-Loomis Adventure 7 has what it takes to make short work of the feistiest of briny critters. I purchased the reel at Bob Marriott's Fly Shop for approximately $100. This reel is well worth the price and actually seems to be very much underpriced when compared to other reels in the price range. The price definitely i not an indicator of it's quality as it looks and feels more like the high priced models.

Things I like about the G. Loomis Adventure 7 Fly Reel: Much has been said of bar stock aluminum fly reels and their relative strength without compromising weight, but the Adventure 7 incorporates all of the craftsmanship, quality and reliability one could ask for in a light weight cast and machined aluminum construction. Without a doubt this reel has features found only in the higher priced reels. For instance the fully adjustable composite centerline drag system is as smooth as silk and has the backbone necessary to put the brakes on long runs. The drag is adjustable by a center dial that clicks through a multitude of positions incrementally. At first, I thought the nearly flush mounted drag knob would be difficult to adjust for a person with large hands but I quickly discovered that I could easily adjust the drag through a wide range of settings, even with wet hands. The spools are specifically designed to make changing a snap and they easily convert to a right or left hand retrieve.

What I don't like about the G. Loomis Adventure 7 Fly Reel: To date, I really have no complaints concerning the performance of this reel. It has worked flawlessly thus far and is a breeze to clean.

Adventure 7 Fly Reel quality: I have always said that a fly reel is nothing more than a place to keep your line, but I believe I have been proven wrong with the Adventure 7. This reel truly is a thing of beauty with its unique champagne-colored finish. It is definitely not just another gold colored saltwater fly reel. Many a fellow angler has stopped to comment on the appearance of my reel's rich anodized hue.

Adventure 7 Fly Reel summary: Of course the Adventure 7 comes with the G-Loomis warranty. It also comes with a soft protective pouch, but I must admit, I'd almost rather keep it on display as the showpiece it is rather than hide its impressive good looks! Needless to say, I am very pleased with the quality and reliability of this modestly priced reel and believe its performance will put a smile on any angler's face!
