Shimano CX 4000 QUICKFIRE II Fishing Reels

Fishing Reels Manufacturer: Shimano
Shimano Model: CX 4000 QUICKFIRE II
Review Category: Fishing Reels

Purchase: Fishing Reels This fishing reel was bought at a Canadian Tire hardware store in Kindersley Saskatchewan two weeks before we were to leave on holidays. My other fishing reel was given to my daughter to fish with. The cost of it was $49.99 CDN. This is a larger than normal tougher reel that is made to take punishment.I had never used one like this before, but it was the biggest one they had and we were going fishing after the big lake sturgeon of the South Saskatchewan River.

Things I like about the Shimano CX 4000 QUICKFIRE II Fishing Reels: This is a very easy unit to use. Everything about this reel was good. It fits right into your hand. The reel will take lots of punishment and abuse as we were fishing on a wet clay-like bank. The water is a dirty brown with all kinds of things floating down in it to get tangled in your line. Even with all kinds of grass, dirt and other stuff on the reel, it worked 100 % like it should. I had on several large sturgeon during this trip. The largest one was just over six feet long and weighed around 110 pounds. This reel performed beautifully and I would tell anyone to try one.

What I don't like about the Shimano CX 4000 QUICKFIRE II : The only thing that I didn't like about the reel was the size. This was my own fault because I was used to the normal ultralight reels that I always used before. Once I got used to the reel it was fine. A person has to be prepared to practice with one first and then they would be fine. I honestly can't say that there was anything that I didn't like about this reel.

Fishing Reels CX 4000 QUICKFIRE II quality: The reel is a larger metal one. There is very little plastic on it so the reel can take a fair bit of abuse. The gear ration for it is 4.6. It is fairly light weighing in at around 12 oz. without any line. I was using 40 lb. line and I was able to put on about 100 yards of this line. The quality of the reel is very high as it was put through a test of rough dirty water, lots of mud everywhere, grass and contanimants on the line and still being able to land some good sized fish.

CX 4000 QUICKFIRE II summary: This reel worked way above any reel I have ever used under some of the worst conditions. I would recommend anyone to buy this reel if they have any serious fishing to do.
