Things I like about the Leupold Wind River Pinnacles 8x42 Rifle Scopes: Sweet binoculars! Very compact, solid, fully multicoated roof prism binoculars. Remarkably bright, clear image. Image is crisp from the center all the way out to the edges with no distortion unlike my old binoculars. Roof prisms are phase coated. Good exit pupil (5.3 mm). The lifetime waranty is nice too.
What I don't like about the Leupold Wind River Pinnacles 8x42 : It would be nice if they came with attached flip-off objective covers. Will probably buy some aftermarket from Eagle Optics.
Rifle Scopes Wind River Pinnacles 8x42 quality: Lenses are great, Japanese made. 100% waterproof, nitrogen purged tubes. Body is rubber armored and feels good in the hands. The eyepice diopter has a click adjustment rather than just friction, very nice. Also, Leupold now gives you an extra set of eyepiece lens cups for eyeglass wearers. About as good as they come without moving up to the mega-bucks leval with Swarovskis or Leicas.
Wind River Pinnacles 8x42 summary: These are some sweet binocualars. They are at the top of the Wind River line in price (ouch!) as well as features. Very good light transmission in low light conditions. You will like them. I have heard others compare them favorably to the Zeiss Diafun line and the Pentax DCF XP's. I liked them better than the Nikon Monarch ATB's (image was not as crisp IMHO). The 5-star rating is in comparison to other binoculars with a similar price point.
