Purchase: Fishing Reels I bought this combo at the Bass Pro Outlet in Baltimore, MD for $99.
Things I like about the Bass Pro Shops Extreme Baitcast Combo - Rod(ETX66MHT) Reel(ETX1000LPHB) Fishing Reels: So far, I'm very impressed with this combo. I originally bought it for fishing worms, but needed a rod to fish a weightless plastic jerkbait on one day and gave it a shot. The reel free spools very well, much like some of the more expensive reels that I own, and I've been able to case weightless plastics long distances very accurately. The rod is sensitive enough that I could pickup the lightest strikes even on mono.
What I don't like about the Bass Pro Shops Extreme Baitcast Combo - Rod(ETX66MHT) Reel(ETX1000LPHB): The only thing that I've found so far that I don't like is the reel seat. The back lip is pretty shallow and if I don't have the seat tightened down really well, the reel can come off the rod when you set the hook. I lost a couple of fish the first tip out because of that. Once I really got the thing tightened down, I haven't had a problem since.
Fishing Reels Extreme Baitcast Combo - Rod(ETX66MHT) Reel(ETX1000LPHB) quality: The quality of this rod and reel is very good. The rod is very solid with plenty of backbone for hard hook sets. The reel construction is very good as well. I used to be a little cautious of store brand rods and reels, but I'm very impressed by the quality of this unit.
Extreme Baitcast Combo - Rod(ETX66MHT) Reel(ETX1000LPHB) summary: This is a very solid combo that has performed on par or better than many of the more expensive units that I've used. I'm planning on purchasing 2 more of these combos in the following year. For $100, it’s tough to beat.
