Purchase: i purchased this and also two other reels from a bass pro shop
Things I like about the shimano spirex: super smooth casting with great balance, i am a true believer in the quick adjust paddle and dial for drag adjustment. i have always used open faced reels from shimano with the fightin' drag set up (ie sidestab and spirex) and always will, they are just so convenient when the battle is on.
What I don't like about the shimano spirex: my only complaint is this...this is the first reel i have used with a double handle and i find my hand hitting the opposite handle when i reel it. its like they are too close together or something.
spirex quality: excellent
spirex summary: i really like the quality, balance, and castability of this reel but i am going to look for a different handle
