Shimano Calcutta TE 400 Fishing Reels
Fishing Reels Manufacturer: Shimano
Shimano Model: Calcutta TE 400
Review Category: Fishing Reels
Purchase: This was a birthday present from my (favorite) Sister. These retail for $350.
Things I like about the Shimano Calcutta TE 400: SMOOTH and SOLID. Excellent drags. Casting brakes are rediculously easy to get to. Just turn the thumbscrew on the handle(right) side, the left side plate pops out and pivots out of the way while remaining attached to the reel. No worrying about dropping a side plate into water (Doh!).
What I don't like about the Shimano Calcutta TE 400: No provisions for using a clamp with this reel, but as of yet this has not been a problem.
Calcutta TE 400 quality: Best baitcaster I have ever owned! Period. End of Discussion.
Calcutta TE 400 summary: I have caught King Mackeral up to 25lb, Dorado, Red Snapper, even a 4 foot Tarpon. Not once has this reel shown any sign of weakness. It is a pricey reel but you get what you pay for. And then some.
