Shimano Sahara 2004 (size 2500) Fishing Reels
Fishing Reels Manufacturer: Shimano
Shimano Model: Sahara 2004 (size 2500)
Review Category: Fishing Reels
Purchase: Bought the reel at LeBaron (Toronto) for Can $91.
Things I like about the Shimano Sahara 2004 (size 2500): Smooth and neat.
What I don't like about the Shimano Sahara 2004 (size 2500): 1. The line keeps on going over the spool and every once in a while it gets inside under the spool cap. Lost a couple of lures this way. (By the time the line is sorted out, the lure is already snagged on the bottom way out of reach) 2. The line gets wrapped around the bail guide and, in the long run, would carve a groove in the plastic part just like I saw that on a Stradic reel, a friend has. 3. It does not seem to be that smooth after some exposure to sand and water, though I take a good care of it.
Sahara 2004 (size 2500) quality: Good and solid construction. Well made components, but the engineering part is missing in some areas as described above.
Sahara 2004 (size 2500) summary: Overall a pretty good reel. One should get used to its tricks and be ready to lose a few lures with it.
