Purchase: Broadheads I purchased the HyperShock broadheads at Jay's Sporting Goods in Gaylord, Michigan for $34.95. A live hunt on an outdoor show convinced me to try the broadheads.
Things I like about the AfterShock Archery HS-125/HyperShock Broadheads: I like these particular mechanical broadheads because of the unique process by which they open after entering an animal. Less energy is used which enhances the penetration of the 2 3/4" diameter cutting path. In addition, because of the unique design, deflection will most likely not occur if an animal is quartering when shot. I have seen this happen with mechanical broadheads that deploy on contact outside of the animal. Also, they fly like my field points.
What I don't like about the AfterShock Archery HS-125/HyperShock : I wish they were less costly. The first and only Whitetail that I have killed with the HyperShock Broadheads did not give me a blood trail until it blew blood out and collapsed. I don't know if it was due to the placement of the hit (angling down into the chest cavity behind the shoulder)or the fact that the entrance wound was not prominent due to the design of the broadhead.
Broadheads HS-125/HyperShock quality: The quality of the materials and workmanship put in to the broadheads is excellent.
HS-125/HyperShock summary: I recently killed an 8 point whitetail with these broadheads at approximately 25 yards. The deer was quartering away. I hit the animal in a perfect location behind the left shoulder. He ran approximately 100 yards and died. After opening the deer up, the left lung was devistated. The arrow penetrated approximately 12 inches with that particular shot. I shoot a Mathews Feather Lite with a 29" draw at 70 lbs. I use 2314 XX78 Super Slams with the 125 grain HyperShock Broadheads.
