Purchase: Broadheads I heard about them from a friend, and purchased them at Gander Mountain in Flint, Michigan. Initially I acquired them because of the accuracy in which they flew, identical to practice tips.
Things I like about the Mar-Den Inc. Vortex 125 gr, 2 3/4" cutting diameter Broadheads: They shoot exactly like practice tips. They provide an unbelievable cutting diameter, which allow game to bleed quickly and die humanely when the shot is placed properly. The blood trails with this broadhead are a bowhunters dream!!! I even gut shot a deer last year, which provided a quick humane kill, with a wonderful blood trail. I was intially concerned with penetration being a problem, however, out of 6 bow kills, I have had adequate pentration with all kills, including 2 pass through shots.
What I don't like about the Mar-Den Inc. Vortex 125 gr, 2 3/4" cutting diameter: The strength of the broadhead shaft bends easier than perhaps it should. I have bent some broadheads under conditions I'm not sure other broadheads would have bent. I have found that other broadheads do not bend as easily.
Broadheads Vortex 125 gr, 2 3/4" cutting diameter quality: Construction could be better. The strength of the shaft that encases the broadheads before deployment can bend. I don't know if this is necessarily a bad thing, because the animals were harvested anyway. I just worry more about the construction not withstanding a broadhead-to-bone shot, which luckily I haven't made yet with them due to the broadheads flying so wonderfully!
Vortex 125 gr, 2 3/4" cutting diameter summary: Overall, the Vortex 125 gr broadhead is a wonderful broadhead, that flies identical to practice tips. Although I would like to see the construction strength improved, I faithfully use them for their flight, cutting ability, and quick harvesting of bow kills. Most deer harvested with this broadhead don't make it 100 yards, and some don't make it 50. Ethical bow hunters should only shoot when a good shots presents itself. This broadhead is ideal for ethical bowhunters prepared to take the ethical shot. Overall Mar-Den has done a wonderful job!!!
