Purchase: A friend introduced this bait to me in 1976. I mostly order these from Cabelas for about 2.00 a piece.
Things I like about the Yakima Baits White Rooster Tail: You can fish these at any depth. They are pretty inexpensive and alot of different types of fish hit them.I've caught 100s of bass and 10 over 5lbs on this lure.The White is my favorite and resembles a shad.Fish it just fast enough to turn the willow leaf blade.
What I don't like about the Yakima Baits White Rooster Tail: You should not use a rod over medium action or the willow blade is hard to get swimming. The hooks on the 1/4 ounce is to small for bass fishing so I usually order the 3'8 ounce lure.You must keep a tight line because fish can easily come unhooked.
White Rooster Tail quality: The hackle is pretty tough. After every fish you may need to straighten the wire shank. Gar, pickeral or pike will literally destroy this bait. The colors of the hackle will turn brownish after about 5 outings. I've fished in tournaments big and small and this is my number one fish producer.
White Rooster Tail summary: My best fish producer lure.When I'm fishing in small bass contest my friends beg me not to use it.It's that good.
