Summit clearshot Tree Stands
Tree Stands Manufacturer: Summit
Summit Model: clearshot
Review Category: Tree Stands
Purchase: Tree Stands I purchased the stand at Dance's Sporting Goods. I was looking for a stand to replace my well worn old Loggy Bayou stand. The Summit ClearShot has an attached fold up seat and is advertised as being usable without the hand climber.
Things I like about the Summit clearshot Tree Stands: The stand climbs very well with the compact hand climber. The stand seems to have quite a bite on the few trees I've tried it on but I need to do further tests on different size and types of trees. The platform is on the small side but the seat is very comfortable and sturdy.
What I don't like about the Summit clearshot: The ads say it can be used without the handclimber. In my experience it is very difficult to climb without the handclimber. It may be your feet are positioned too far away from the tree when not using the hand climber. Of course because this model does not fold up there is quite a bit of treestand sticking out while packing in. While packing or setting up the stand the seat has a tendency to clank against the frame of the stand. A small amount of padding and tape in strategic spots should remedy this.
Tree Stands clearshot quality: This stand appears to be very sturdy with solid welds.
clearshot summary: I only bought this stand because of the attached fold up seat and I wouldn't have to haul a hand climber around.
