Purchase: Fishing Rods I bought this rod at the brand new Cabela's store in Wheeling, WV. I paid $19.99 + tax for it. I bought this to match my Shakespeare Catera Reel. I also bought this because I was needed a longer pole for an Erie Steelhead trip that I took.
Things I like about the Cabela's 7' 0" Whuppin' Stick Fishing Rods: I am not one hundred percent sure, but I believe this rod is based on the Shakespeare Ugly Stik. It is an extremely rugged rod and did very well during my Steelhead trip. There is not much I don't like about the rod. And I guess the best thing about this rod is that it is nearly $10 cheaper than a comparable Ugly Stik.
What I don't like about the Cabela's 7' 0" Whuppin' Stick: Truth be to tell, there is nothing that I don't like about this rod. It casts well, it land a 7lb and 10lb steelhead well, it is comfortable to fight fish with. Again, there is nothing bad that I can say about this rod.
Fishing Rods 7' 0" Whuppin' Stick quality: I'm impressed with it so far. The quality is there through the entire rod at a very good price.
7' 0" Whuppin' Stick summary: If you like the Ugly Stik, you'll love Cabela's Whuppin' Stik. It is basically the same rod but at a much cheaper price.
